Team Falcons offered $3 million for m0NESY, but G2 said “no”

The eSports world is once again discussing a big transfer rumor: Team Falcons, one of the most ambitious organizations in the Counter-Strike scene, was allegedly ready to pay up to $3 million for the young star of G2 Esports – Ilya “m0NESY” Osipov. This was reported by commentator Chad SPUNJ Burchill on the Talking Counter podcast.

Secrets of the negotiations

On the podcast, SPUNJ said that the information about the deal came from the agent of one of the players, whose name he preferred not to disclose.

“I talked to the agent and touched on the topic of m0NESY and G2. He assured that Team Falcons were ready to pay up to $3 million. But G2 refused. They clearly want to keep the current roster, otherwise it would look like a complete rejection of their current game philosophy,” SPUNJ noted.

G2’s decision is most likely due to the fact that m0NESY has become a key element of the team’s success. The young sniper, despite his young age, is already considered one of the best players in the world.

Despite rumors about m0NESY’s possible departure, it became known that it will not be him who will leave the team, but another star player – Nikola “NiKo” Kovac. This was announced by the team’s coach Wiktor TaZ Wojtas. G2 CEO Alban Dechelotte confirmed this information back in October.

Interestingly, NiKo has long been linked with a move to Team Falcons. According to unconfirmed reports, negotiations between the clubs began in the summer of 2024, but the deal did not take place then. Now, after NiKo’s departure from G2 is confirmed, his transfer to the Falcons seems only a matter of time. If these rumors are confirmed, Team Falcons will be able to significantly strengthen their roster, and NiKo will get a chance to build a new team around himself. However, the question about m0NESY remains open: are G2 ready to continue to hold on to the talent despite major offers? Time will tell.
